Dear Residents,
Spring is here, and it has been wonderful to see so many of our families caring for their homes, working in their yards, and making such beautiful improvements throughout our community. Your efforts do not go
unnoticed-thank you for taking pride in your homes and helping keep our neighborhoods beautiful!
While this season often allows our staff to focus primarily on property improvements and outdoor maintenance, this year brings exciting new opportunities as we continue developing Project Thrive.
Project Thrive is designed to strengthen community partnerships and expand resident access to education, employment, and supportive resources that help remove barriers to long-term self-sufficiency. As many
of you know, Van Buren Housing Authority has worked proactively to prepare for upcoming State of Arkansas work requirement expectations, and we are committed to ensuring our residents are prepared, supported, and positioned for success.
We are incredibly encouraged by the opportunities this initiative will create and believe it will provide many families with meaningful pathways toward greater independence and stability.
For residents who are not exempt from work requirements, Van Buren Housing Authority will be holding mandatory public meetings throughout May and June to help prepare you for upcoming program changes,
explain expectations, and connect you with valuable resources.
Additionally, please ensure that you are fully current on your Community Service requirements and that all required timesheets from the previous year have been submitted. Accurate documentation will be increasingly important as we move forward.
We are looking forward to meeting with each of you in the coming weeks and are excited to help connect our families with new tools, resources, and opportunities to thrive.
Warm regards,
Dayna Cochran

Love Your Lease: Pet Policy
Section I Tenant Obligations
34. Pet Policy: To abide by the PHA's Pet Policy. Tenant will not keep pets such as dogs, cats, birds, reptiles or other animals anywhere in the complex, unless the pet/service animal has been registered with and approved by the PHA, and the family has executed a formal pet/ service animal agreement that becomes and attachment to the lease, by reference. Tenants who are persons with disabilities and have an assistance animal shall abide by the PHA's Assistance Animal Policy.
Pets and service animals can bring joy, comfort, and companionship to a home. To make sure everyone in the community stays safe and comfortable, all animals must follow the VBHA Pet and Assistance Animal Policies.
Before bringing any animal into your home, it must be approved and registered with the office. A pet or service animal agreement must also be completed and added to your lease.
Important Guidelines
All pets and service animals must:
- Be registered with the office and approved by the PHA
- Cats and dogs must have current rabies vaccinations
- Dogs must be registered with the City of Van Buren
- Be walked on a leash by a responsible person
- Not be tied outside or allowed to run loose
- Receive proper daily care and veterinary attention when needed
- Not be left alone for long periods of time (If you will be away or hospitalized, please arrange care for your animal.)
Pets are wonderful companions, but they depend on their owners to keep them healthy, safe, and well-behaved.
If you would like a copy of the full Pet Policy or have questions, please contact the office.
