Letter from the Director

Dear Residents,

The holidays are almost here! I always get excited this time of year as I love spending time with family and friends, especially around the Thanksgiving table. I hope each of you are planning to spend time making memories with those you love this holiday season.

We have a lot of amazing things planned for you over the next few months. Please look over the calendar and plan to attend the events at the Community Center. We will have a Community Thanksgiving Potluck and I would love the opportunity to see you there. VBHA will provide the Turkey & Dressing, which we will prepare at the Community Center. If you are able to come and bring a side dish, please let us know.

We will also be placing a mailbox at the office so that your children are able to write a letter to Santa. While we are still ironing out the logistics, I am hoping to make this year very special for you and for VBHA Staff. However, it is very important that you include your address on each letter your children write (this makes it easier for Santa's elves).

I would also like to encourage each of you to decorate your lawn for Christmas this year. We will work on making the common areas feel like magic for your family, but I would really love to see our neighborhoods brimming with Christmas cheer this year.

And as always, I understand that holidays can be difficult for a variety of reasons. You are not alone this year. We are here and we want to make the best of whatever situations we are faced with. Reach out to us and let's see if we are able to connect you with the right resources and allow you to find the joy! At the end of the day, we are all better off if we stick together.

I hope to see you very soon-

Dayna Cochran

Happy Thanksgiving, from our family to yours.

Love your Lease-Adding Someone to Your Lease

  • "Any additions to the household members named on the lease, including Live-in Aides and foster children/adults, but excluding natural births, adoptions, and court awarded custody, require the advance written approval of the PHA. Such approval will be granted only if the new family members pass PHA screening criteria and a unit of appropriate size is available. Permission to add live-in-aide and foster children/adults shall not be unreasonably refused.
  • Tenant agrees to wait for PHA approval before allowing additional persons to move into dwelling unit. Failure on the part of the Tenant to comply with this provision is a serious violation of the material terms of the Lease, and the PHA may terminate the lease."
  • Your Lease lists all family members that are allowed to live in the unit. To add a person, they will need to go through the same application, and background checks that every adult goes through.
  • You are not allowed to let anyone else stay in your unit.
  • Allowing an unapproved person to stay in your Unit will result in an investigation and the result could be an eviction.

A note from the Community Center:

I am super grateful to all of you who came out to support us this month. I look forward to seeing you at our Thanksgiving Potluck on November 16th. We will be providing the turkey and dressing; we just ask you to bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share. Please call me at 479.474.4407 to find out how you can volunteer to help with this event or any other event we are hosting here at the VBHA Community Center. I look forward to seeing you!

Larissa
